♀️In Honor Of International Women's Day

PROFITABLE MUSICIAN:

FEM FRIDAY EDITION

March 6, 2026

Happy FEM Friday!

This Sunday, March 8, is International Women's Day.

I have to admit, until this year, I didn't realize there was an annual theme for International Women's Day. But when I decided to focus this newsletter around it, I discovered that the 2026 theme is a perfect fit for what we do at Profitable Musician and Women of Substance.

This year’s theme, "Give To Gain", is all about reciprocity, emphasizing action, generosity, and shared responsibility in advancing opportunities for women.

“Giving” can take many forms, including:

Mentoring or sharing knowledge

Funding or promoting women-led initiatives

Advocating for equal opportunities

Challenging stereotypes or bias

Elevating women’s voices and achievements

The message is that advancing gender equality is not a zero-sum game. Supporting women doesn’t take anything away from others. Instead, it creates a multiplier effect where opportunities expand for everyone.

That's our mission...our bread and butter...our sweet spot. It's why I do what I do everyday.

It reminds me of several of my favorite quotes:

“You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help enough other people get what they want.”

and...

"All boats rise with the tide."

That's why in this issue I want to take a beat to highlight some of the female-specific initiatives we offer in case you're not aware of them...

🎧Podcast Episodes Especially Relevant For Women

Women of Substance Radio Podcast

I created Women of Substance Radio to give Indies a platform to be heard so that listeners would fall in love with new music by the best female artists and female-fronted bands in all genres. Over the last 18 years, we have become a trusted curated source to discover new music by quality female artists.

Women of Substance works extremely hard to create opportunities for exposure, publicity and promotion for our Indie Artists. The desire to open doors for talented Indie female artists was one of the main reasons I started WOS Radio and it is the driving force behind everything we do - we consider this our core mission.

When I started my podcast in 2015, it was called The Female Entrepreneur Musician. As the brand evolved and I focused on marketing and business advice for musicians, it became the Profitable Musician Show.

PROFITABLE MUSICIAN WEEKLY NEWSLETTER March 4, 2026 Hey there, Profitable Musician! March is Women's History Month, and it's got me thinking about how many women were taught, implicitly and in some cases explicitly, that a creative calling is not a realistic option and more like a pipe dream. Not forbidden exactly. Just optional. Something to fit in around the edges. Something to be practical about. And that if you want it badly enough that it keeps you up at night...you might be a little...

PROFITABLE MUSICIAN: FEM FRIDAY EDITION February 27, 2026 Happy FEM Friday! You know that feeling. You open a new document. The cursor blinks. The page stares back at you. And instead of words, what shows up is the weight of starting from scratch, with the whole project still in front of you. Write the captions. Map out the launch. Plan the content. Figure out what to even say. For musicians, that blank page isn't just annoying. It's one of the biggest reasons consistency breaks down. Not...

PROFITABLE MUSICIAN WEEKLY NEWSLETTER February 25, 2026 Hey there, Profitable Musician! I've talked to a lot of musicians lately who are doing everything right. Putting out good music. Staying consistent. Showing up online. But they're feeling like they're playing to an empty room. And the thing that gets me every time is how fast they turn that inward. They start pulling apart the mix. Second-guessing the lyrics. Wondering if the song was even good to begin with. And eventually that quiet,...
