You can ditch social media if you have this...

Hey there, Profitable Musician!

I've learned something about YOU recently.

You're probably not the biggest fan of social media.

And here's how I know that (beyond the fact that my private clients and members of my Female Musician Accelerator (FMA)) tell me all the time how burdened they feel by social media)...

I've recently discovered that my most clicked Meta ad, by far, says, "What If Social Media Was Optional."

Maybe you even got here by clicking on that ad?

In this issue

🥽You Can Ditch Social Media If You Have This

🛠️Tools You Can Use: Simple Money Management

🎧Pivot: Embracing Change & Opportunity At Any Age

So here's the scenario where social media can be optional.

What is the nuts and bolts job of social media for musicians like you?

  1. To connect with new people who might become long-time fans.
  2. To nurture that relationship through content and in the comments

These are very important things you should be doing daily.

But do you have to use social media to do it?

NO!

In fact, #2 is actually accomplished much better through your email list (more on that in a minute).

But what about #1?

Social media is a really great place to find new fans.

But what If you absolutely DO NOT want to do social media?

You don't have to be on social media...as long as you have another way to connect with new fans.

For most artists, that's performing live. If you've got systems in place to collect emails at live shows, you're golden.

Or maybe you run ads? Or you do collabs or swaps with other artists?

Or you're developing any of the other discovery vehicles I talk about in my Category of One Artist Secret Podcast Series.

If you haven't already listened to that, you can get access here. It's 75 minutes of pure gold.

So...if you have a reliable way to continuously bring new people into your email list, you don't need social media.

But to make this work, you DO need an email list that you communicate with regularly.

I believe an email list is the lifeblood of an artists career.

Here's why:

--> Did you know that for every dollar spent on email marketing you can make $40 in return?

--> Did you know that if you’re doing email right you’ll be making $1 per subscriber PER MONTH?

--> Sending regular emails to fans keeps you top of mind so they'll be more likely to support you by listening, sharing and recommending you.

If you've been in my world for any length of time, you know how passionate I am about building your email list. So I'll be focusing on how to build your fan email list and use it to turn fans into superfans over the next few weeks.

And I'm going to be releasing a tool I'm super excited about that will help you create that consistent, deep connection with fans.

Stay tuned...

Always in your corner,

PROFITABLE MUSICIAN WEEKLY NEWSLETTER September 16, 2026 Hey there, Profitable Musician! You know I talk a lot about becoming a "Category of One" Artist. And one of the most important things you can upgrade to set you apart as a Category of One is your EPK - Electronic Press Kit. PROFITABLE MUSICIAN: FEM FRIDAY EDITION September 11, 2026 Happy FEM Music Friday! Most artists I work with already have gigs on their calendar. They've got their bread-and-butter gigs like restaurants or hotel residencies or places they've played so many times that they've built up a relationship with the venue so all they have to do is call them and they can get a date on the calendar. So getting gigs isn't the problem. The problem is that the same ole gigs are getting boring. The same...
