Happy FEM Friday!

About 19 years ago, I stood onstage for something completely different: my very first keynote concert. I wasn’t in a coffee shop, fighting to be heard over the espresso machine. I wasn’t background noise in a restaurant.

I was the event. And in that moment, everything shifted.

That keynote concert changed my life and the trajectory of my music career. Suddenly, I wasn’t just performing; I was connecting.

People weren’t casually clapping as they sipped wine; they were moved, they were crying, they were singing along, they were signing up for my email list in droves because they felt something real.

That’s the power of the one-two punch of well-crafted stories + transformational music...

That’s the power of being seen and heard.

"Women who step into keynote concerts aren’t just performing—they’re transforming lives, including their own."

Keynote concerts have the potential to transform not just your gigs, but your confidence. So many of us have been told to take up less space, to just be the entertainment in the corner.

But women—especially women who are reconnecting with music after some years away—have deep emotional stories to share. And keynote concerts are the perfect vehicle for that.

We, as women, are often more naturally in touch with our emotions, with our life stories, and the meaning behind our music. That makes us uniquely suited to the keynote concert format.

We can use our lived experience to create impact. And what’s beautiful about this model is that it works around our lives, not the other way around.

Many conferences and corporate events happen on weekends, which means you can still hold down your 9-to-5 if you need to. Or if you’re a mom, like I was when I started, there are nonprofit, church, and community events during the day that allow you to perform while the kids are at school. I even brought my daughters with me to some of these gigs—and they were welcomed.

It also makes the "marketing" part easier. When you're doing a traditional show, there's a lot of promotion required. But with a keynote concert, you're the invited speaker. You're booked and featured. You just show up and deliver something powerful.

And once you create one keynote concert, you can keep performing that same concert over and over to new audiences. No need for extensive rehearsals of new music. It respects your time and gives you the spotlight you deserve.

For me, the difference was night and day. Instead of background gigs, I was doing high-impact performances. Instead of struggling to get heard, I had people lining up to talk to me afterward. Instead of handing out business cards and hoping, I had a booked-out schedule (after about 6 months I started getting tons of referrals).

There are so many directions you can take it—corporate, nonprofit, community, retreats, even churches. I've done them all! If you're ready to be more than background music, this is your path.

Now, you might wonder, if I'm so passionate about this, why don't I help artists create keynote concerts?

Because...once I met Tiamo, I knew I could never teach it as well as he does. He is the true expert!

He's been doing it even longer and has focused exclusively on helping artists break into the conference market by creating their own keynote concert.

Restore To Past - Your Song Again

RESTORE TO PAST:

Restore to Past started as a project in 2004 with Leifson Persbraaten, Kristian Romsøe and the sisters Ragna and Tora T. Engstad working on the tunes and vocal harmonies in Tora’s studio apartment at Grünerløkka in Oslo. At that time Kristian was bartending at Robinet, a small bar next to the Rockerfeller stage in Oslo, and a hangout for various people from the Norwegian music scene. Anders Møller and Mats Engen from Euroboys also worked in the same bar, and Cato Thomassen, Einar Stokke Fadnes, Trond Mjøen and Jo Schumann were all regulars. After closing hours, they often discussed various ideas of different bands and musicians working together. It never got to more than pathetic late-night enthusiasm until the demo of Restore to Past was played on the stereo, and an opportunity of fusion between the guys behind and in front of the bar appeared.
