Hey there, Profitable Musician!

Before I jump into this week's content, I wanted to quickly mention that I'm offering my free Fan Attraction Formula workshop TODAY at noon ET. There's still time to register and join us here.

OK, now let's dig in...

It seems like brand new, shiny online marketing platform show up every few years offering so much promise.

And if you're not getting traction, it's easy to be lured into thinking the next platform will give you the breakthrough you've been hoping for.

Every few months, a new platform seems to take over the spotlight: TikTok, Reels, Shorts, Threads, Bluesky... As musicians, we scramble to keep up, repurpose content, and hope the algorithm smiles on us for a few hours.

Remember, there's a good reason that certain OG platforms are still around today - they work.

So what if the real long-term career growth isn't in chasing the algorithm—it's in partnering with one that's been quietly working for artists 24/7?

🛠️Workshop: YouTube Strategies For Musicians

🎧How To Protect Your Music Rights From Day One

That platform? YouTube.

In my recent conversation with Tobias Rauscher—solo instrumentalist, YouTube veteran with 50M+ views, and founder of Fanbase Pro—he said something that stuck with me:

“YouTube is a partnership. You bring a great video, they promote it for you—even 10 years later.”

That’s not hype. That’s real, sustainable discoverability.

Why YouTube Is Built Differently for Musicians

While TikTok and Instagram are “now or never” platforms—where content disappears in hours—YouTube is a search engine and recommendation engine.

Tobias said he only uploaded 3–5 videos a year and still reached millions. Why? Because YouTube keeps working while you sleep.

Here’s how:

  • Evergreen visibility: A well-optimized performance video can show up in search and recommended videos for years.
  • Global reach: Tobias got booked for shows in China and Taiwan—all from YouTube. Why? Because of how regional channel clusters work (more on that below).
  • High watch time = high value: Unlike a 15-second TikTok, someone watching your 4-minute music video signals deep interest. YouTube notices—and promotes accordingly.

YouTube Is a Gateway to New Markets

One of the most mind-blowing parts of our chat was when Tobias discovered a video of his uploaded (without permission at first!) to a Thai music channel. It racked up 6M views—and introduced him to a whole new audience.

Rather than fight it, he leaned into the opportunity and started collaborating with these regional channels. He added watermarks, links, and eventually monetized the content.

Here’s why this matters:

  • YouTube’s algorithm organizes content into regional clusters—meaning Thai YouTube is different from U.S. YouTube.
  • Audiences in places like Thailand, Brazil, and the Philippines are highly active sharers and spend more time watching long-form content.
  • With a simple strategy, you can become “famous” in another market before you're known in your hometown.

“But Bree, I Don’t Have Time to Be a YouTuber…”

I hear you. You don’t need to vlog your breakfast or edit like Mr. Beast.

Here’s how you can integrate YouTube without extra overwhelm, especially if you’re a performer:

  • Record your live sets. Just you, your instrument, and your phone. Boom—YouTube content.
  • Upload studio versions of your originals or acoustic covers with simple visualizers or lyric videos.
  • Batch performance videos. Dedicate one weekend to shoot 4–6 pieces of content. Drip them out monthly.
  • Leverage existing fans. Encourage fans in other countries to share your videos or help translate titles/descriptions into their language.

Even if you only post a few high-quality videos a year, YouTube will still work for you long after you hit “upload.”

TL;DR: YouTube is the Only Platform Still Promoting You While You Sleep.

If you’ve been avoiding YouTube because it feels “too late” or “too much work,” now’s the time to reframe that.

It’s not about becoming a YouTuber—it’s about using YouTube to build an international performing career, grow your email list, monetize your catalog, and create evergreen discovery.
