💄Extreme Makeover (FMA Edition)

PROFITABLE MUSICIAN WEEKLY NEWSLETTER

August 5, 2026

You know that feeling when you're welling up inside with pride?

I've experienced that a few times recently:

When my youngest daughter sang with her choir at Carnegie Hall, singing a complex piece being debuted on that stage - as one of a handful of high school students within a group of mostly college students.

When my oldest daughter presented her 100+ page College senior honors project: Translating Terror into Tales of Transformation - Irish Literature as a Coping Mechanism at the Intersection of Religious and Colonial Historical Trauma (sounds like a great read doesn't it - and it was).

And next Monday I'll get to swell with pride as my youngest as been asked to sing the National Anthem and Alma Mater at her senior year Back To School night.

Not here to brag (OK maybe a little, but it's perfectly acceptable for a mom to brag on their kids, right?).

But as I reflect on these watershed moments for my daughters, I'm reminded of all the years of unrecognized work and sometimes monotonous consistency it took to get there, for both them and me.

It's the same for we musicians...toiling away in secret in practice rooms, in rabbit-hole songwriting sessions, and never ending booking pursuits where you can start to feel like that creepy stalker that just doesn't take a hint until...on the 5th attempt they unexpectedly respond and say "yes".

We're all doing hard, thankless work behind the scenes to make the highlight reel look easy and inevitable.

I salute you!

Today I want to tell you about my lost weekend that led to something I'm so proud of and can't wait to share with you.

From Friday morning early through Monday morning, I locked myself away in my office with a giant protein coffee and a dream - to completely rebuild our Female Musician Accelerator platform. Other than taking a few hours off for my regular church gig on Sunday morning, I was glued to my desk to make it happen by Monday.

And I will tell you, because I've had this program for 11+ years and we've been on this platform for almost 5 years, there was a lot of reorganization to do!

It's kind of like when your husband goes shopping and gets a ton of awesome food but then just throws it all in the fridge on ONE SHELF so all the things you really want to eat are 3 layers deep.

So yeah, it was a lot. Especially because I wanted to completely revamp the structure of the spaces to make it most relevant for 2026 and easily navigbble for our members.

But sometimes you've just gotta put your head down and get it done, even if you spend all weekend in your bathing suit for convenience sake and end up eating cottage cheese and salsa for 3 days straight(because it's fast and oh so good too...anyone else love this combo?)

So what's the result you ask?

I would say it's nothing short of an Extreme Makeover!

And it really is a watershed moment for me and the future of FMA. I can't wait to hear the responses from our members on our live call this Friday.

So if you've been thinking of hopping into the Female Musician Accelerator, this is the time. Here's a sneak peak of the new organization.

You can see the depth and breadth of up-to-date know-how we're featuring in the "Studio" section.

We've even adopted fun musical names for each section. I was worried it was a little cheezy, but my smart business friend assured me it was fun:)

And what I couldn't fit in the pic, because it's right above Goaldie your Goalsetting Guide, is our "Category of One Artist" Assessment and Matchmaker section (I'm so stoked about this part!)

True talk: I've still got plenty more work on my plate for this weekend because I have a huge library of training that still needs to be recategorized, but we're getting close and it should all be settled by Monday.

Wanna see what all the fuss is about and everything that's waiting for you Inside?

I'd love to work with you inside the brand-spankin' new FMA.

Always in your corner,
<3 Bree

PROFITABLE MUSICIAN: FEM FRIDAY EDITION July 31, 2026 Happy FEM Music Friday! I recently pulled out my old high school choir scrapbook because my daughter and her friend are choir captains this year, and I thought they might get a kick out of it. They definitely enjoyed the cringy 80s hairstyles and the “what were we thinking?” choir dresses. But what surprised me was how fascinated they were by the scrapbook itself. I had painstakingly cut up the programs from every choir event, pasted them...

PROFITABLE MUSICIAN WEEKLY NEWSLETTER July 29, 2026 We accidentally created something pretty special... As you so vividly remember, back in 2020, our community of musicians had a problem none of us had planned for. Shows disappeared. Tours stopped. Venues closed. The usual rhythm of rehearsing, performing, traveling, and meeting listeners in person came to a screeching halt. But the songs didn’t stop coming. In fact, many of the women in my community were writing more than ever. So we created...
