Your voice responds to more than technique

PROFITABLE MUSICIAN:

FEM FRIDAY EDITION

October 16, 2026

Happy FEM Music Friday!

When we think about improving our voice, we usually think about technique. Better breath support. A tone we're happier with.

But your voice also responds to what's happening in your body and how comfortable you feel being heard.

That's one reason I wanted to tell you about Free Your Voice, the three week vocal mini course from singer and voice coach Rush Dorsett of EmbodiedVoice®.

As a musician, keeping your voice in shape is part of your job. You'll get the practical vocal technique, and you'll explore the connection between how you feel in your body and how you express yourself.

Rush's approach helps you understand your own instrument and use it with greater intention. Here's how the three weeks fit together.

Week 1: Know Your Voice. Get familiar with your natural sound and notice the physical patterns that affect it. You'll try practices designed to help you experience more ease in using your voice.

Week 2: Clarify Your Expression. Explore what you want to communicate and the expressive possibilities in your voice. This week also addresses the fear and self consciousness that can come with letting yourself be heard.

Week 3: Embody Your Voice. Put those practices into use in front of others, with opportunities to develop confidence and bring more of yourself into your singing and speaking.

The classes are gently interactive. Rush describes a supportive setting where you can participate as actively or quietly as you like, without being pressured to perform.

You'll have live coaching and time to ask questions, with class recordings to practice from afterward. Daily vocal warmup videos give you something to work with between sessions, and the private Telegram community lets you share voice notes and receive feedback.

Her method brings vocal technique together with body awareness, breath work, and energetic practices. The course also includes bonus sound healing and vocal toning videos, plus guidance for keeping your vocal practice going after the three weeks.

That ongoing practice is a big part of the appeal for me and why I recommend her class. Vocal health deserves consistent attention so you can keep using your voice for years to come doing the work you love.

And as more AI generated content fills our feeds, I believe there's value in letting people hear YOU. Your own expression can bring an emotional connection to a song that makes a listener want to hear more.

Free Your Voice is $44 for the full three weeks. Live classes are Mondays, October 26, November 2, and November 9, from noon to 1 PM Eastern on Zoom. You can use the replays if those times don't work for you.

See the full course details and register here.

You don't need prior vocal training, and you don't need to arrive knowing exactly what you want your voice to sound like. That's part of what you'll explore.

Grab your spot and get this transformative mini course on your calendar ASAP.

Always in your corner,
<3 Bree

PROFITABLE MUSICIAN: FEM FRIDAY EDITION October 2, 2026 Happy FEM Music Friday! Today I want to look at fan connection through two completely different lenses. Dopamine and Oxytocin. I’m not suggesting that we can reduce all human behavior to two brain chemicals. Neuroscience is obviously more complicated than that. But as a way of thinking about what we’ve been trained to value online versus what actually builds a relationship, I found the contrast really useful. Dopamine is closely...

PROFITABLE MUSICIAN WEEKLY NEWSLETTER September 30, 2026 Hey there, Profitable Musician! I'm going to borrow an economics term that I believe applies surprisingly well to what’s happening in music right now. A K-shaped economy is one where two groups that once seemed to be moving in roughly the same direction begin separating. One branch rises while the other falls away. I think music is developing its own version of that. For years, the internet kept lowering the barriers to releasing music....
