Too many musicians are quitting, and that's not OK!
It's such a huge loss, both to the musician herself and to potential listeners and fans of her music.
That’s why I'm so passionate about helping artists with more than just the technical stuff. Because it’s never just about your release strategy or fanbase growth tactics,
It’s about building a life that supports your creativity and doesn’t drain it dry.
Inside my community for female musicians, I’ve always taken a whole-life approach.
Yes, I teach strategy. But I also talk about time management, finances, productivity, mental health, and setting up your life in a way that actually works for you.
This year, our very first workshop was called “How to Build Your Music Career Around Your Life.” It was a reflection of what so many musicians truly need.
After ten years of running my community, I recently had the chance to catch up with one of our founding members, Alicia Mathewson. We’ve stayed connected over the years, and it was amazing to see how this community has supported her through so many seasons.
There were times when she was full of energy and ideas. There were times when she was tired and overwhelmed. But through it all, she kept showing up—not because she had to, but because she didn’t have to do it alone.
She joined during her first Kickstarter. She had talent, drive, and vision, but she was carrying so much of it on her own.
What helped her move forward wasn’t just access to tools. It was having people in her corner. A place where she could grow at her own pace, with guidance and support.
In our recent podcast interview, she said something that really stayed with me:
“Just because I’ve made records before doesn’t mean I know everything. And it’s not always easy, especially as an adult, to let yourself be a beginner again. To say you still want to grow.”
That kind of humility and courage is rare—and powerful.
Today, Alicia is preparing to release her sixth album. She’s completed four successful Kickstarter campaigns. She’s writing her first book.
I know that sounds like a lot - a prescription for burnout.
But it's not. And here's why:
She’s doing it all with a sense of joy and clarity that doesn’t come from hustling harder. It comes from building smarter, with the right support around her.
There’s this message floating around that if you’re tired, you just need to push through. That burnout is part of the job. That if you can’t handle it, maybe you weren’t cut out for this.
I don’t believe that. And I never will.
Pushing to the point of burnout isn’t proof that you’re committed.
And doing it yourself doesn’t mean doing it in isolation.
That’s why I created the Female Musician Accelerator. I wanted to build the space I desperately needed when I felt overwhelmed and alone. A space where women could get coaching, ask questions, connect with community, and find tools that actually work in real life.
If you’ve been carrying this career on your shoulders by yourself, I want to invite you to try something different.
To celebrate our ten-year anniversary, I’m offering a $1 trial. It’s your chance to explore what’s inside, experience the support, and see what it feels like to finally not have to do this alone.
Because your music matters.
And I don't want you to quit (and neither do you).
