The missing 🧩 for most singer/songwriters

PROFITABLE MUSICIAN WEEKLY NEWSLETTER

October 8, 2025

Hey there, Profitable Musician!

In my early years as a singer/songwriter, I was writing a lot. I was probably writing one or two new songs each week because I was bursting with inspiration and ideas.

I wanted to get my songs in front of people who could give me constructive feedback.

I also wanted to enter them into contests and promote them to other artists and sync libraries.

But my demos sounded terrible! No one was going to take them seriously...

🎧Using Theme-Based Setlists To Build Memorable Concerts And Land More Bookings

So instead of ponying up the thousands of dollars it would cost to record in the studio week after week, I made a really smart investment that changed the whole course of my career.

I spent under $1K on a condenser mic, a DAW and some software and some training to learn to record from home.

Best decision I ever made!

Because I built my little home studio and learned some simple engineering and production skills that took my career in directions I never could have imagined.

What followed:

  • I was able to get constructive feedback on my songs and make changes before submitting to anything that cost money
  • My husband and I recorded a homemade Holiday album as a surprise gift to our family and that ended up generating thousands of dollars in physical sales and streaming income
  • I was asked to collaborate on countless projects for pay as a vocalist, arranger and mixing engineer
  • I recorded a few special albums by fan request that generated thousands at gigs
  • I became an award-winning podcaster!
  • I recorded and mixed my entire Holiday album on my own which generated thousands in pre-orders and on-tour sales (and I only spent $2,100 overall for arrangements, mastering, art, and manufacturing. ZERO production costs.
  • I still record vocal demos for pay even with my busy schedule because I can do it from the comfort of my home office (in fact I just did a work for hire yesterday for a Holiday song).

Of course, all of this started with creating my very first self-produced demo.

As a songwriter or artist, chances are you’ve got dozens of unfinished songs sitting on your phone or hard drive and no way to get them out as fast as you’d like.

The reason you're not getting the opportunities you want is not because you aren’t talented. It’s not because the songs aren’t good.

It’s because the process of finishing can feel overwhelming, expensive, and out of reach.

That’s why I want to introduce you to Produce Like A Boss (P.LAB).

P.LAB has helped thousands of musicians (hundreds in my community alone since 2019) step into the role of producer—teaching artists how to take control of their music, finish what they start, and produce their own songs!

They help artists and musicians (Indies working on a limited budget like you and me) finally release songs they’re proud of on their own time!

On October 13 at 2PM ET/11AM PT (48-hour replay available for those who register), they’re hosting a brand new free live training called: From Voice Memo to Demo Roadmap - The 3 Shifts to Finally Finish Your First Song

You’ll walk away with a clear roadmap to take your music from a rough voice memo to a finished demo without expensive gear or endless hours of trial and error.

Seats are FREE, but space is limited.

I believe in what they're doing so much that I'll personally be there to greet you on the workshop. Click the button below to join me.

Always in your corner,
<3 Bree

PROFITABLE MUSICIAN: FEM FRIDAY EDITION October 10, 2025 Happy FEM Friday! The first album I ever recorded was while I was pregnant. During my first pregnancy, my daughter was prone to hiccups EVERY SINGLE NIGHT about 2 AM. I would toss and turn and try to go back to sleep, but it never happened. So after nights of lying awake watching my stomach bounce up and down, I started a new routine... PROFITABLE MUSICIAN: FEM FRIDAY EDITION October 3, 2025 Happy FEM Music Friday! If you have been hearing a lot of "no" lately, I want you to know there is nothing wrong with you or your dream. Every artist I know has experienced plenty of nos on their way to more yeses (including me). What changes the experience is not begging harder or shrinking smaller. It is a subtler but stronger shift. You begin asking as the version of you who expects good to happen and moves as if it already is. I call...
