5 Ways For Musicians To Use QR Codes

Playlist-Worthy Music

QR Codes make it stupid simple to connect your fans with your offers.

Have you ever created a QR Code to promote your music?

If you have, you know how easy it is to do and how effective it is.

If you haven't, I'm guessing it's because you don't know how and you think it's going to be hard.

I want to make it super easy for you to create your first one right now.

My go-to QR code creator is Bitly.com because I already have an account with them. But in the past I've also used QRCreator.com, MyQRcode.com, etc.

Google "create QR Code" and see what comes up. They are all free, but usually require you to create an account using your email to retrieve your QR code.

Creating a QR code takes 30 seconds. Seriously! I just created this one on the right.

  1. Navigate to the QR code generator of your choice
  2. Insert the link you want the code to send people to.
  3. Make any customizations (some programs let you pick color, design, etc.
  4. Hit "Generate!".

Voila! You now have something you can put on signs, flyers and printed materials IRL to send fans to your online platforms.

Some ideas for using QR codes:

  • Send people to your Spotify to check out a new release or a special playlist.
  • Send people to your website to buy merch after a show (in case they don't have money with them, want to buy more later, or you run out of stock).
  • Send people to your services page to pay for lessons, custom songs or private events.

The use cases are endless!

Now I KNOW you've got 30 seconds right now. So Take Action and create your first or next QR code pronto!

Always in your corner,

PROFITABLE MUSICIAN: FEM FRIDAY EDITION September 11, 2026 Happy FEM Music Friday! Most artists I work with already have gigs on their calendar. They've got their bread-and-butter gigs like restaurants or hotel residencies or places they've played so many times that they've built up a relationship with the venue so all they have to do is call them and they can get a date on the calendar. So getting gigs isn't the problem. The problem is that the same ole gigs are getting boring. The same...

PROFITABLE MUSICIAN WEEKLY NEWSLETTER September 9, 2026 Hey there, Profitable Musician! You can spend an entire afternoon researching places to play and end up with a list of venues you’re not even excited about. Then you hear another musician describe a gig where the audience absolutely loved her music, and you think, β€œWhere on earth do you FIND something like that?” Often, you have to look beyond places that advertise live music. This week on the podcast, six of my FMA members share their...

PROFITABLE MUSICIAN: FEM FRIDAY EDITION September 4, 2026 Happy FEM Music Friday! If you've been in my world for a while, you know I often talk about Holiday releases and bookings every year in July, because that gives you the best runway to get something recorded and book some shows to promote it in December. But this year I decided not to beat the same drum in July...but I can't allow myself to completely ignore December bookings because they can be so lucrative! So consider this your nudge...
