Your career missing đź”— (not what you think)

PROFITABLE MUSICIAN:

FEM FRIDAY EDITION

March 27, 2026

Happy FEM Music Friday!

I want to share something that might gently challenge the way you’ve been thinking about “getting ahead” in your music career.

So many of us are taught to look up. To chase the people who are further along. To try to get in the room with the biggest names, hoping that proximity will somehow fast-track our progress.

I totally tried to do this in my early years.

I remember hurling my CD at industry reps as they came off stage at a conference, booking useless mentor sessions at TAXI Road Rally, and trying to connect with people online just because they had the word "Publisher" next to their name.

But here’s what I’ve learned, both from my own journey and from watching hundreds of women inside this community grow…

The relationships that change everything are often the ones right beside you.

The artists who are at your level, with similar goals, similar challenges, and a similar fire in their belly.

Those are the relationships that compound over time.

It reminds me so much of my friends Robina and Scott, the brilliant minds behind TrackStage.

I don’t just know them as colleagues. We’ve actually built our businesses in tandem and lived life alongside each other.

We’ve sat in masterminds together, paddled out into the ocean in kayaks, cheered each other on at the TAXI Road Rally, and yes, even shared a few laughs over white Russians.

I remember when TrackStage was just a tiny spark of an idea back in 2019.

It wasn’t polished. It wasn’t proven. It was just a vision.

And because we were in the same circles, having the same conversations, I got to be part of that early stage. I shared what I thought artists needed. I watched it evolve. I was in the trenches with them during the beta phase.

Now, seeing what they’ve built 7 years later, I honestly feel like a proud godmother.

And here’s the part I want you to really take in…

That kind of connection didn’t happen because I was chasing someone “above” me.

It happened because we were walking side by side.

That is the magic of locking arms with your peers.

I see this every single day inside the Female Musician Accelerator.

Women come in feeling unsure, isolated, wondering if they’re “too late” or “too far behind.”

And then they find each other.

Suddenly, they’re sharing gig bills. They’re collaborating on songs. They’re supporting each other’s releases.

Same stage. Same drive. Same willingness to show up.

And just like that, everything accelerates. You feed off of each other's momentum.

This is exactly why I always say, don’t be a lone ranger. That isolation will slow you down more than anything else.

But when you plug into a community of women who get it, who are building right alongside you, your confidence grows faster, your opportunities multiply, and your vision starts to feel real.

All boats really do rise with the tide.

So if you’ve been feeling like you need to “reach higher” to move forward, I want to invite you to try something different.

Look around. Who is right beside you? Who is showing up consistently and doing cool stuff, even if they’re still figuring it out?

Who shares your values, your goals, your vision for what this music journey can be?

Those are your people. Lock arms with them. Build together.

Because a few years from now, you might look back and realize… you didn’t just find peers.

You found collaborators, cheerleaders, and lifelong friends who helped you become the artist you are today.

And speaking of people building something incredible from the ground up, if you haven’t checked out the TrackStage video series Robina just released, I really encourage you to watch it.

Not just because the platform is powerful, but because it’s a beautiful example of what can happen when you nurture an idea, listen to your community, and grow step by step.

And because, they are my friends and they are awesome. I'm so proud of what they've built to serve my community.

Belle Miners - February Song

Despite living on different continents, the Belle Miners are repeatedly drawn back together to perform, embracing each tour as if it could be their last. Their music captures the joy and connection of reunion, with harmonies that feel both precise and deeply personal.

Just before the COVID-19 lockdown, they recorded songs like Dandelion and On The Ground with producer Dave Mann in an intimate studio setting in Margaret River. Earlier, they also collaborated with David Pensebene to record Cradle to Caves, exploring new sounds—including the addition of electric guitar—while working in a distinctive Western Australian studio environment.

Cash Honey - Say You Love Me

Cash Honey began as a solo project before evolving into a full band in summer 2024, blending old-school rock ’n’ roll with a modern, femme-fronted edge. Formed by a group of five queer musicians with roots in other bands, their sound mixes classic rock influences with pop-driven melodies, creating a style that feels soulful, sensual, and contemporary.

As part of a new wave of queer artists reshaping the industry, Cash Honey is building toward their debut album, promising a fresh yet nostalgic take on rock. Songs like *“Say You Love Me”* highlight their signature mix of catchy riffs, strong vocals, tight harmonies, and raw garage rock energy.

Jamie Eskind - I Gotta Know

From influences ranging from Whitney to Wynonna, church music to Motown, every sound and every soul-filled melody has helped shaped the St, Louis native into the vocalist She is today. Jamie Eskind. A proud mother of four grown sons, being a singer has been interwoven into her life. Jamie adds “Music has always lived deep in my heart. While I chose to put motherhood first, that love for music never left me.” Now, She’s stepping fully into it—on her own terms. As an artist, She sings songs that move and transform her. Music is personal, and each song she has chosen reflects a chapter of her life. Through her voice, She tells stories of love, relationships, and the journey She’s taken to find peace and happiness. Embracing both the failures and the victories, understanding that there was never a wrong path—only her path. In her own words, “I’m still growing, still living, and always looking ahead. With this album, my goal is simple: to finally tell my truth.”

PROFITABLE MUSICIAN WEEKLY NEWSLETTER March 25, 2026 Hey there, Profitable Musician! Picture this: you get an email from a music supervisor who is interested in licensing one of your songs for a new show. Exciting, right? But then the stress kicks in. Where are the files she needs like the final master, the backing track and the stems? You start hunting through folders that are all over the place. Maybe you have some files on your desktop, others on Google Drive, some on your phone. You open...

PROFITABLE MUSICIAN: FEM FRIDAY EDITION March 20, 2026 Happy FEM Music Friday! Have you ever had a collaboration that started out exciting and slowly turned uncomfortable? Most musicians have. At first everything feels right. Someone shares an idea, you start trading voice memos, the song begins to take shape and there's that spark you get when two creative people are actually clicking. It feels like something bigger is happening than what either of you could have pulled off alone. And then...

PROFITABLE MUSICIAN WEEKLY NEWSLETTER March 18, 2026 Hey there, Profitable Musician! Let me ask you something. How many songs are sitting on your hard drive right now? Not the ones you already released. The other ones. The voice memo you recorded at 11pm because the melody wouldn't leave you alone. The lyrics you came up with on your walk that are half-typed in a Notes app. The demo from two years ago you kept meaning to revisit. The track that was almost there and then just... got buried. Be...
