PROFITABLE MUSICIAN:
FEM FRIDAY EDITION
October 31, 2025
Happy đ» Halloween FEM Music Friday!
As you hand out candy tonight and admire all the creative costumes, I want to whisper a gentle reminder...
Black Friday is only four weeks away.
I know it sounds early, but this is actually the perfect time to start thinking about it.
You have just enough time to create something simple, meaningful, and ready to share when the holiday buying season begins
Hold up! Before I lose you...
Cause I can already hear those unspoken objections. "But Bree, Black Friday isnât for musicians. Thatâs for Amazon and department stores, right?"
Hereâs the truth. Black Friday isnât just for big companies or products. Itâs a moment when people all over the world are in a buying mindset.
They are ready to spend money, looking for gifts that matter, and eager to say yes to things that bring joy and connection.
That makes it one of the best opportunities for independent artists like you to invite your fans to support you in a way that feels natural.
And there's an added bonus for you beyond the potential income...

With Black Friday, you get the opportunity to practice making offers to your fans that won't feel uncomfortable because EVERYONE is doing it on Black Friday.
Itâs the perfect âcoverâ for making an offer if you usually feel awkward about selling.
It allows you to get some "reps" in.
Everyone expects a sale or a special offer that weekend. Itâs normal. So instead of feeling self-conscious or pushy, you can simply join the flow. You can make your first or next offer to your list in a way that feels safe, expected, and even fun.
Your fans are going to be shopping that weekend no matter what. Why not give them the chance to buy something that supports your music and fills their homes with meaning?
This is a great chance to practice talking about what you do and inviting people to buy without the fear or guilt that often creeps in.
Every artist needs to learn how to make offers with confidence, and this is one of the easiest, most natural ways to do it.
Here are some practical reasons you should absolutely do it:
You have fans who already love your music but have never bought anything from you. A small discount, a bundle, or a limited bonus can give them the push they need.
You probably have merch or products taking up space that could bring joy to someone else.
Your music makes a unique and meaningful gift, especially for people looking for something more personal than what theyâll find in a big-box store.
Black Friday gives you the chance to connect with your fans at a time when they are ready to say yes.
And again, it gives you the perfect reason to make an offer. No pressure. No awkwardness. Just you showing up like every other business, but with heart and authenticity.
So maybe you're convinced, but you have no idea what you'd offer.
Once you open your mind to the idea, youâll see how many possibilities you have. Here are some to get your creativity flowing.
A merch bundle that includes discontinued items or something exclusive only during this sale.
A signed CD or vinyl with a handwritten note or lyric sheet.
A music lesson package that comes with a bonus session or a personal song critique.
A private virtual concert for your biggest fans, with a limited number of tickets.
A pre-sale for your next EP, or album at a special early bird price or a limited-time bonus, or both.
A pre-order for a course or workshop if youâve been wanting to teach.
A bonus gift for anyone who buys during the weekend, such as a holiday song, a behind-the-scenes video, or a personal thank-you video.
Free shipping for fans who spend a certain amount during your sale.
A âsponsor a songâ offer where fans can dedicate one of your tracks to someone they love, with a personal message.
A fan experience bundle with a signed album, lyric sheet, and ticket to your next show.
The options are endless once you give yourself permission to be creative.
This is not about being salesy. Itâs about giving your community an easy way to support you and be part of your journey. They already want to. Youâre simply creating the space for it.
If youâre early in your career, use this weekend to grow your list.
Offer a free download or a private video to anyone who joins your email list that weekend. Thatâs still an offer, and itâs one that helps you move forward toward your first 100 fans.
So hereâs your small action step.
Before Halloween night ends, write down one idea you could offer for Black Friday. Just one.
It doesnât have to be perfect. Then reply and tell me what it is. If youâre torn between a couple of ideas, share both and Iâll help you decide.
This year, let Black Friday be your safe, confidence-building practice ground. The more you practice making offers, the easier it becomes to share your music with boldness and joy. Your fans will thank you for it.

The Sirens are a dynamic female singer-songwriter duo whose music blends the insightful songwriting styles of Lennon and McCartney with the rich harmonies of Simon & Garfunkel. Drawing on influences from classic rock and folk, The Sirens craft songs that span a wide range of styles, from catchy pop-rock anthems to introspective ballads. Their ability to seamlessly weave storytelling with melody has garnered them praise for both their lyricism and vocal chemistry.
In addition to their original music, The Sirens have expanded their creativity into writing jingles, showcasing their versatility and knack for crafting memorable, concise tunes. With a natural flair for blending past and present influences, they capture the spirit of classic rock while maintaining a modern edge. Open to collaborations and licensing opportunities, The Sirens are eager to share their music with the world and continue building their unique sound.
Alexandra James is a genre-bending singer-songwriter grown in California and based in Brooklyn. Equal parts outlaw country and folk lullaby, with an education in jazz music, she is a unique blend of sound and influence. First and foremost she is a storyteller, using her quietly powerful voice to deliver raw and personal lyrics. She and her band, the Danger Boys, deliver an energetic set of original music full of emotional depth, toe-tapping grooves, and lush vocal harmony. Her first alt country/folk single "Bitter Then Better" will be released July 28th, followed by 2 more singles and then a 6-track EP released November 6th.
Recently back from Europe, Canadian Billboard-charting recording artist, Alternative Soul singer, Avery Raquel, has entertained audiences professionally for over a decade. Having released 4 solo albums now to critical acclaim and airplay across North America and the world, her last self-titled release debuted on the Canadian iTunes Top 200 R&B/Soul album chart at #5. Five tracks from that album were finalists in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition in 2022, in 4 different categories, with one winning the Grand Prize in the Pop category. That latest project of all original Alternative Soul is reminiscent of her love for R&B/Soul music of the past, but with a more current, contemporary style. Influenced by artists and songwriters such as Carole King, Amy Winehouse, Etta James, Lauryn Hill, Bruno Major, Allen Stone, and so many others, Averyâs created a collection of personal, yet relatable songs, a soulful fun mix of RnB/Soul and Pop, with a flavour of her Jazz, and Blues experiences. That same sound can be found on her new single from her upcoming EP. Performing nationwide, including main-stage performing arts centers, renowned music festivals, club-style venues, and corporate events, Avery continues to wow ever-growing audiences with her fresh style and powerful vocal performances.

PROFITABLE MUSICIAN: FEM FRIDAY EDITION October 24, 2025 Happy FEM Friday! This week I attracted a troll on Threads. You know the type, the one whoâs determined to discredit you because your version of success doesnât look like theirs. He told me I shouldnât be giving advice because I hadnât been âsuccessful.â I couldnât help but smile a little, because what he meant by success was probably fame, followers, or maybe a record deal. My definition (and likely yours too) is very different... In...
PROFITABLE MUSICIAN WEEKLY NEWSLETTER October 22, 2025 Hey there, Profitable Musician! This weekend, my daughter and I were in the car when she started telling me about some of the songs on Taylor Swiftâs new album. Iâll be honest, I hadnât been in a rush to listen to it. Not because I donât like Taylorâs music, but because she releases new songs so often that ânew albumâ doesnât exactly feel like breaking news anymore. But as my daughter talked, I noticed a change in my attitude. She told me...
