Hey there, Profitable Musician!

I still remember stepping onstage for my first keynote concert.

Finally, I was the event. It gave my stories and songs a place to work together.

People had come to hear what I had to share. Pairing my stories with my songs gave them a reason to connect with the music.

There were tears. People sang along. They signed up for my email list because the experience had meant something to them.

Afterward, people lined up to talk to me.

And because it was for a non-profit gala, they also bought merch that benefited me AND the organization I was supporting. Honestly, I had never hit so many goals in one night. And it was just the beginning...

That concert changed my life and the trajectory of my music career. It was the first asset that put me in a Category of One, even though I didn't have that language for it yet.

I had packaged my music inside a program people could hire me to deliver. And I was the only one offering that specific combination of music, message, humor, heart and engagement.

If you've heard me talk about the "big domino" in my secret podcast series, this is a good example. My keynote concert became a way for new people to find my music and get to know the person behind it.

The email signups were awesome too. I could keep that connection going after the event instead of hoping we'd somehow find each other again online.

It also fit the season of life I was in.

I performed for churches and nonprofit groups, as well as corporate and community events. My daughters even came with me to some gigs, and they ran my merch table:)

My friend Tiamo helped me understand why this format set me apart, and he's spent 20 years modeling it on conference stages.

Now he's sharing a free video series about creating and getting hired for keynote concerts.

As you watch, think about how your experiences and your music could work together in a presentation an organizer would want for their audience.

Always in your corner,
Bree

P.S. Once I created my keynote concert, I could perform it for new audiences without building an entirely new show each time. That made a real difference when I was balancing music and motherhood. After 20 years, I still get hired to deliver that same keynote concert today! Watch this video series to learn how to create your own keynote concert that could serve you for the next 20 years.

That's one reason I wanted to tell you about Free Your Voice, the three week vocal mini course from singer and voice coach Rush Dorsett of EmbodiedVoice®. As a musician, keeping your...

PROFITABLE MUSICIAN: FEM FRIDAY EDITION October 2, 2026 Happy FEM Music Friday! Today I want to look at fan connection through two completely different lenses. Dopamine and Oxytocin. I’m not suggesting that we can reduce all human behavior to two brain chemicals. Neuroscience is obviously more complicated than that. But as a way of thinking about what we’ve been trained to value online versus what actually builds a relationship, I found the contrast really useful. Dopamine is closely...
